So far this summer I have worked all over North Indiana and Southeast Illinois (namely the Chicago suburbs) for APX Alarm, and I've loved it. It's had its ups and downs, and it's been tough at times to want to keep going. But, that's just like any job you ever have; you have to take the good with the bad.
Know what I mean?
Well, today was one of those good and bad days (Danny you'll be pretty proud of me). Me and several of the other technicians went paintball-ing as an office. We were down a few guys so there was only seven of us, but it was okay some of the maps we fought on were pretty small and worked well for a small group of guys.
The first area we fought in we did a control the flag game (instead of trying to capture your enemies flag you had to get into the middle of an open courtyard and stick your flag into an orange parking pylon). My team was down one guy from the others but we still kicked their aces! I wiped the freaking floor both times we fought there.
I'm not going to do a play-by-play kind of thing for you, but the final tally for the day was a 6-2 win-loss in our favor. My Kill
eath ratio came out around 32:3 in the end. I freaking rocked it.
But in the last minute and a half of the 8th round I was coming into a bunker and my left leg gave out (football injuries from both high school and college). It crumpled up beneath me like a fricking accordion and now my left big toe, left, ankle, and left knee are all screwed up.
I laid there for nearly a full minute; my gun on the ground holding my leg in pain, until I heard we only had 30 seconds left. I grabbed my gun, rolled over, and spotted someone trying to crawl up to my position. He didn't immediately see me because he had his side to me, but I unloaded my last 30 rounds or so into his side. I felt pretty dang good as I hobbled off that course and laid on my couch all day because I bit it coming into a bunker for some combat.
So, I just felt like spewing that forth on this fine Monday evening, because it was a whole lot of fun, and when it comes down to it, in a few weeks when we go back I'll have two braces, icy hot, and a few ibuprofen to keep me in the fight.
